Peace and conflict research deals with violence and violent conflicts in the broadest sense. It thus seeks to formulate strategies to overcome these forms of violence in the short, medium and long term.

This wide range of forms of violence and conflict necessitates an interdisciplinary approach to peace and conflict research. As such, this approach combines disciplines such as jurisprudence, political science, international relations, social sciences, philosophy, psychology, cultural sciences, anthropology and the like. Peace and conflict research can therefore be carried out by a wide range of scholarship.
